2022 Alameda County Elections

Election Day is November 8th, 2022! Register to vote here.

The 2022 election year will bring an opportunity to effect change and advance our campaign goals through the ballot box. There are two crucial elections impacting Alameda County in 2022, the Alameda County District Attorney Race and the Alameda County Board of Supervisors race.

Alameda County District Attorney

We expect the Alameda County District Attorney (DA) race to be competitive, as current DA O’Malley is retiring after 37 years. The DA’s office holds enormous power, as this office holder can drastically change youth and adult incarceration rates in Alameda County as well as hold law enforcement accountable.

Alameda County Board of Supervisors

The Alameda County Board of Supervisors have a direct role in shifting money and resources away from punishment-based solutions and instead investing in programs that impact our community.  In the midst of a global pandemic, we are witnessing the poor investments of our government laid bare: people in need of ventilators gasping for breath, while police are deploying riot gear at people protesting racial injustice. Further, Alameda County has one of the largest reserves of any county in the state, our leaders have yet to put those resources towards the public health solutions that we need. With progressive leadership at the helm, we can build the strong social safety net that our community deserves.

Oakland Ballot Measures

Information provided by our partners Oakland Rising

There are two important measures on the November 2022 ballot that will help build political power in the Oakland flatlands and generate resources for important community services and programs for years to come.

Learn more about:

Oakland Fair Elections Act will:

  • Allow community-backed candidates to run competitive campaigns without wealthy donors.
  • Make our elections cleaner and more transparent so that candidates can focus on the voices of the people, not the pull of big money.
  • Create more diversity across race, gender, and income among donors and among candidates running for office.
  • Boost the power of small donors. A recent survey of likely 2022 Oakland voters found that many residents don’t donate to local campaigns because they simply can’t afford to. In Oakland’s 2014 and 2016 elections, 93% of contributions came from less than 1% of the city’s population.

Invest in Our Oakland Act (Progressive Business Tax) will bring in more than $20 million in funding for our town’s vital services and infrastructure by creating a modern business tax structure that will cut taxes for 20,000 small businesses while making wealthy corporations pay their fair share of business taxes.
