Thank you for joining the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights on September 16 in Oakland to celebrate 30 years of transformation, resilience, joy, and collective action!

Since 1996, freedom has been our North Star. Like our namesake Ella Baker, we believe true leadership is rooted in community. For 30 years, the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights has centered people most impacted, uplifting their leadership and humanity. We have transformed and evolved to collectively meet the moment and shape what comes next. We have fired racist cops. We have shut down youth prisons. We have supported members, like Momma Barbara, after she lost her son Dujuan in Santa Rita Jail. We have passed sentencing reform to bring people home. We have moved resources back into low-income communities of color.

Together, we are stepping into a future shaped by collective power where we continue to organize and create a political home for future generations.
