Thank you for supporting the Ella Baker Center!

EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENT: You can take advantage of a $25,000 matching gift to the Stamps Campaign. If you give today, your gift will be doubled! With your help, we are hoping to raise $50,000 to support efforts to maintain strong connections with our community inside like our prison mail program.

Why Stamps?

For years, EBC has been receiving unsolicited gifts of stamps from incarcerated people. An incredibly generous gift given that each stamp they send can be equivalent to an entire day’s pay.

To honor these gifts, we invite you to support our communities by matching the generosity of our incarcerated loved ones.

Stamps are a symbol of the cost to our communities to stay connected. Families and loved ones outside bear the brunt of paying for basic needs, from communication to visits to the commissary; folks inside might struggle to support these connections as they earn as little as $.08 an hour, and the emotional toll on the folks on both sides of the wall who invest so much time, energy, and emotion into maintaining those ties. When you contribute to the Stamps campaign, you are supporting the work to reduce the burdens that people on both sides carry.

The last few years have amplified the need for connections across walls. Our prison mail program has gone from writing with 2,000 people inside to now sharing critical information with over 8,000 people inside.

Your gift today helps keep these vital communication channels open.

Your gift supports:

  • Create and distribute critical resources like the updated Resentencing Toolkit, used as a community resource by nearly 2,000 people inside and thousands online, providing the resources people need to fight for their freedom
  • Stronger statewide policy victories, like last year’s Racial Justice for All Act. When we are in close organizing relationships with folks inside, we can organize better together and fight to achieve wins that get more people free.
  • More organizing across walls, including the Inside/Outside Fellowship which works with leaders inside to ensure their voices are added to the legislative process.
