Night Out for Safety and Liberation (NOSL) is an annual event which takes place on the first Tuesday of August where we redefine and re-imagine what public safety means for our communities. This year, NOSL will be held on August 2nd, 2022.

Our goal is to change the conversation about public safety to be less focused on fear, punishment, and criminalization and more focused on how we can build equity and power by investing in our communities. We invite organizations and individuals around the country to join us in this movement! Stipends, resources, art work, and more is offered to participating organizations, watch the video below for more information.

NOSL was Founded in 2013, as an alternative to the more police-centric National Night Out, which highlights police-community partnerships as the pathway to community safety. Last year we held dozens of virtual events across the nation as well as some in-person mutual aid events. This year we are excited to be able to host in-person events with you again! From block parties to rallies, Night Out for Safety and Liberation is an opportunity for communities to come together for conversations about public safety. It is a space where we can reimagine what #SafetyIs.

We are hosting over 50 events this year! See if there is one in your city at NOLS.us
