Civil Rights Hero: Etta Simpson, Freedom Rider

I had an evening last May that I will never forget for the rest of my life. I had the opportunity to watch a film screening of the "Freedom Riders" PBS documentary and listen to one of the freedom riders herself talk about what it was like to stand up to segregation in 1961.

Little did I know that the following day I would sit down with that freedom rider, Miss Etta Ray Simpson, and talk with her one-on-one. The hour flew by and I found myself engulfed by her warmth and incredible courage. Below is short video of our chat, watch it and share it with your friends to honor the 50th anniversary of the freedom rides.
