Ella Baker Center RSS feeds

RSS: A Brief Introduction

RSS is short for Really Simple Syndication (among other things). It is a content format which, when used with an RSS aggregator (see below), lets users know when new content is added to a Web page. RSS Feeds are commonly used on blogs, news sites and other web pages where content is added frequently.

In order to receive an Ella Baker Center feed, you can either use your browser's built-in RSS capability or use an RSS aggregator or reader utility. These utilities can be either desktop or web-based. Some examples of popular aggregators include Newz Crawler, Bloglines, Feedreader, NetNewsWire (for mac), and Newsgator, among many others. Mozilla's Firefox can show RSS feeds as "Live Bookmarks," which can show RSS feeds in the browser's window. Other browsers have similar functionality.

How Do I Use an RSS Feed?

Use your browser

In Firefox 2, when you click on the RSS button, you'll see a listing our most recent headlines and a short intro to each article. You can just read the headlines here or click the Subscribe Now button to add a live bookmark. In Firefox 1, you can create a Live Bookmark by clicking on the Live Bookmark icon in the Location Bar, and selecting the feed you wish to use. You should consider upgrading to Firefox 2 if you can as its RSS support is much better. John Bokma has an excellent description of how to add RSS in Firefox.

In Safari 2, just click on the RSS button you'd like to subscribe. You'll see a nicely formatted list of our latest news. Just add this to your bookmarks to subscribe.

For Internet Explorer, we recommend upgrading to Firefox.

Use an aggregator

Once you have set up your RSS aggregator, you are now ready to add an Ella Baker Center feed to your list of RSS feeds. To do that, click on one of the RSS buttons next to the feed you are interested in. In your browser, you may see raw XML code that is not meant to be viewed in your browser and can be ignored. Instead, copy the URL link in the address window in your internet browser and place that URL link into your RSS aggregator program. Alternatively, you can copy the web addresses below the hyperlink title of the web feed to which you wish to subscribe and place this into your news aggregator. You have now added a Ella baker Center RSS feed to your aggregator and will receive relevant updates whenever they become available.

Women are a key part of the climate change solution. But around the world, their voices are being ignored.
Thank you, Ella, Martin, Malcolm, Mom, Dad, and the many others who struggled -- and congratulations on work well done.
The shift is happening. It is the change we are working for.
