In Oakland

What's your vision for oakland?

Oakland is the most ethnically diverse city in the United States with a rich history of political activism.

With all the pain and all of the promise that are realities in our city, Oakland is a proving ground for what is possible across our state.

We're building a vibrant and healthy Oakland:

  • People in our city know that a different Oakland is possible. We build the leadership of people of color and low-income communities to achieve that vision through the Soul of the City campaign and our Heal the Streets youth fellowship.
  • We pilot innovative programs such as Oakland Solar Mosaic and the Oakland Green Jobs Corps that fuel a thriving, green economy.
  • We promote smart policy solutions to the problems facing our city such as the 2011 Energy and Climate Action Plan
  • As a core member of Oakland Rising, we make sure that people of color and low-income communities are a part of the city's political process.

Rose Morton, an Oakland ironworker, testifies in support of the good jobs plan at City Council
2011 was a tough year for many of us as families struggled to make ends meet and violence plagued our streets.  In 2012, we have a real opportunity to bring jobs that allow us to stay in our homes, provide for our families, and build a healthy and peaceful Oakland. Can you join us this Tuesday to meet with City Council and make sure that this opportunity doesn't pass Oakland by?
