Blogging for Human Rights Day

Let's talk about US!

December 10th, Human Rights Day, honors the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This year, we will celebrate with Blogging for Human Rights Day -- a one day blog carnival to shed light on human rights abuses and victories here in the United States.

Often, discussions of human rights turn an eye to the global arena. We believe that within our own borders we face a crisis of human rights which deserves national attention. We invite bloggers, writers, organizations, and anyone with a Facebook page to join us on December 10th to bring conversations about human rights to our own backyards.

It’s easy and all are invited to participate!

Step 1: First register your blog or website to participate so we can spread the word.

Step 2: On December 10th, post a blog, podcast, video or website page talking about a domestic issue of human rights. Include the tag BHRD2012. You can also participate on Facebook or Twitter. Just tag your updates with #Blog4HR.

Need help thinking of ideas? Here are some ideas to get you thinking.

Step 3: Post a link on Ella Baker Center's Facebook wall. We'll compile all the links and share them on Ella's Voice.

If you don’t have a blog or want to post early, you can submit a post by emailing ellasvoice@ellabakercenter.org.

Together, we’ll spark a crucial conversation about the work to make universal human rights a reality here in the United States.  Check out the list of blogs contributed to Blog For Human Rights Day 2012 Here.
