I generally try to avoid shopping after about November 15th. Huge crowds tend to make me claustrophobic and I get overheated so easily in big stores. Growing up Jewish in a smaller town, inevitably leaves you a little pre-determined to react at least somewhat skeptically to huge numbers of Santas, trees and angels. And something about the commercialism of the “holiday season” brings out my inner Scrooge.
