A Glass of Water Por Favor

English Translation:

Senator Rubio, your response to President’s Obama State of the Union Address was in perfect Spanish. Even the gentle tone in which it was delivered invited me to believe you. However, your analysis and logic as to what is causing your people’s marginalization continues to be limited. Mr. Rubio, your worldview is not realistic when it comes to your community’s interests.

You believe in not challenging companies to provide the most basic things for their workers such as health insurance.  In your version of the economic success of the United States, you believe in protecting corporations of taxation while poor communities continue to carry the burden of the bottomless corporate greed.

I must admit that I was moved when you stated that you still live in the same working immigrant neighborhood where you grew up. But in just a few minutes, I realized immigrants are invisible to you. You proposed immigration reform that is exclusive and repressive.

Senator Rubio, I understand completely that it is your option to be used by your party as supposed bridge to the Latino community (or vote). However, it is my own decision to read within the lines of your perfect Spanish and learn that the interests of your party do not represent the interests of the great majority of Latinos and immigrants in the US.

Even though you didn’t get thirsty when delivering your message in Spanish, you lacked not water, but the sensibility to understand that words are not enough to connect you with us. You also failed to understand that your community will keep attentive to the actions of your party and this government to then determine how they will use their electoral power.

And just for fun:
