On May Day, the Ella Baker Center joined thousands of people in the streets for the peaceful March for Dignity and Resistance. I was inspired by the truly cross-movement show of solidarity displayed as we marched from the Fruitvale BART to downtown Oakland. We asked people their reasons for marching. The answers-- everything from specific calls for the rights of marginalized people to the broad and visionary "collective liberation."
