Fight Barriers to Employment with a Phone Call

Assemblymember Mike Davis has introduced a bill that would require the state's Employment Development Department ("EDD") to provide a list of employers who are willing to hire people who have been previously incarcerated in a jail or prison.  The bill may not pass because the state is saying it will cost $700k-900k to generate such a list.

We know that one of the biggest barriers to getting employment is a criminal record.  We also know that California spends way too much money locking up people instead of investing in opportunities.  I think this bill is a very small investment in something that can help thousands of men and women find gainful employment.  Will you take one minute today and make a call to help pass this bill?  The hearing is scheduled for this Friday so please make a call today!

Sample Call Script:   I'm calling to urge Assemblymember (Fuentes/Perez) to support AB 2077.  This bill will help thousands of men and women find jobs in this struggling economy.  The state spends too much of our money on locking people up rather than investing in creating jobs and opportunities.  Please invest in the people of California by supporting AB 2077.
