10 days ago on 10/10/10 over 350 people Got Down and Dirty at Laney College in Oakland ) as part of 350.org’s international work day for climate solutions.

There were 7,347 events in 188 countries around the world, but something about 10/10/10 in Oakland was special.

Maybe it was seeing multiple generations working together in the earth planting the promise of seeds. Maybe it was seeing my friend up on a roof of Laney College helping to install a system that catches rain water for the garden. Or maybe it was talking with classic hip hop legend CL Smooth whose experience at the event caused him to share "I didn’t know my place in the environmental justice movement until today.”

Most of all, what was special about 10/10/10 in Oakland was bearing witness to the unification of our city for a future that puts people and planet over profit and that leads with solutions. Watch this video to relive this special event with me:
